FÍS - Film in Schools is resources, professional development for teachers and a film festival for young filmmakers in primary classes.
The programme encourages the teacher to incorporate and integrate film into the curriculum across all the subject areas. For example the application of FÍS in a classroom can explore aural and oral literacy, creative writing and teamwork development through group work and storyboarding.
Each Education Centre throughout the country has FÍS tutors who deliver training course for prospective FÍS teachers. These professional development workshops, explore the pedagogies, methodologies and technical skills required to best implement FÍS in the class.
The annual FÍS Festival (Usually Oct/Nov in the Helix, DCU) brings together some particiapting schools to celebrate the achievements of the primary school children involved in the FÍS project. Awards are presented in presented in 25 categories.
